Story connects us to our humanity. The Arts and Humanities communicate Story. The result is Cultural Transformation.
The Co-Creation Community/CoPassion Project
A-Place-To-Call-Home is a collaborative, multi-media Arts and Humanities based project inspiring inclusion and common humanity with homeless people and promoting compassionate action by the community at large. Each of our team of co-creators are artists who have personal experience with homelessness. We believe that communicating through the Arts is the most powerful way to affect positive cultural change - and we've already seen it happening in the eight months this project has been underway. At our live community launch event, attended by over 100 people, about 10% of them from the homeless community, we saw a roomful of strangers connect on the basis of common humanity. Perceptions were shifted through stories told from the stage and sharing soundbites from our Audio Story Showcase, live music performed by our co-creator team members, and a screening of our project intro video. We are producing a documentary film, music CD, 2018 Daily Compassionate Action Calendar, and a live interactive/experiential event with a gallery show of fine art in November, 2017. Our project is partially funded by a California Humanities Quick Grant and we have applied for another grant from California Arts Council. We have launched our Humans Being Positively Human Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign to raise the needed funds to complete our 2017 goals for the project.
