To celebrate its first year of operation With One Voice, the international arts and homelessness movement, is staging a series of events around the UK to launch and share landmark research and resources it has created with and for the global arts and homelessness sector.
We are delighted to publish the world's first Arts and Homelessness Literature Review, authored by Phyllida Shaw. With One Voice Director Matt Peacock explains why Manchester is the perfect place to host the inaugural International Arts and Homelessness Summit & Festival
“I always arrive into Manchester the same way – stepping off the train at Piccadilly Station, leaving by the main exit where the road funnels passengers down into the heart of the city past high street shops, criss-crossing tram lines, to the open space of Piccadilly Gardens.
With One Voice is organizing the first ever Summit & Festival of arts and homelessness which will take place in Manchester in Nov 2018. One of the centre-pieces of the Festival will be a public mural co-created with people who are or have been homeless from around Greater Manchester. We will work with around 30 people who are or have been homeless and we are making a call-out to individuals and homeless agencies to come forward to help create this important piece of art.

We will be announcing the Summit/Festival in Manchester on 15th March at 6.30pm at an event attended by GM’s homelessness and arts sectors and Mayor of GM, Andy Burnham.
With One Voice is working on two major reviews in the sector with arts consultant Phyllida Shaw: an International Literature Review on Arts and Homelessness that will bring together research, evaluation and documentation from the sector and academia; and an International Review of Cultural Spaces’ Responses to Homelessness which will include examples from Rio to Dallas to Manchester on how cultural spaces (libraries, galleries, museums, theatres, arts centres, open spaces, etc.) are welcoming homeless people to take part in the cultural offer.
Streetwise Opera’s international initiative, With One Voice, organised the first arts and homelessness exchange between Canada, the United States and the UK. 23 outstanding projects shared their work during this event, which was held in November 2017, as part of the ATSA État d'Urgence Festival in Montreal.
