The Marie Trust

From our base in Midland Street, near Central Station in the middle of Glasgow, we offer a range of person-centred services to prevent and alleviate homelessness and promote social inclusion.

Our aims are to:

  • To prevent homelessness, poverty and social exclusion
  • To alleviate the effects of homelessness, poverty and social exclusion for 
    those who experience it
  • To advance education and opportunity for homeless and socially excluded 
  • To enhance health and well-being for the people who use our 
ESOL English Class


This course is for people who use English as a second language and havebeen homeless or had other problems (offending, mental health, addiction).

Wednesdays at The Marie Trust 1pm-3.30pm.

Adult Literacy Class

This course is designed to work with learners at a beginner level, and is solely for individuals who struggle with reading and writing and who would wish to developtheir skills further with support.

The course will cover:

English and Communication - Understanding Language; Creating Texts and Listening and Talking.

The course aims to enable learners to: Understand and respond to simple word - based texts; create simple word - based texts to communicate ideas, opinions or information; and listen and respond to simple spoken ideas, opinions or information and communicate simple ideas, opinions or information. This course is specifically for individuals who have experienced barriers to accessing mainstream learning opportunities as a result of experiencing homelessness, ex offending, mental health or addiction issues.
