Since October 1985, the St-James Drop-In Centre located at St-James-the-Apostle Anglican Church in downtown Montreal has catered to people struggling with issues related to homelessness, mental illness and addiction. The St-James Centre creates an environment where its members feel safe and comfortable in a community where they can have their physical and mental needs addressed. The Drop-In tries to provide genuine acceptance with individually-tailored programs seeking to enhance the quality of life and unwavering advocacy and representation.
St James Centre
Since 1996, the creative art program at the St-James Drop-In Centre has allowed its members to explore the positive benefits of art and creativity, and leave behind stress or loneliness that often mark their lives outside the centre.
The program offers photography and music workshops in collective or individual creativity sessions. Artists also have the opportunity to display their work in numerous galleries and coffee shops across Montreal. The open-minded atmosphere encourages members to express themselves freely in an environment where creativity, self-esteem and positive interactions are nurtured.
